It’s good to talk

Marc Venner
MA Psychotherapy, PGDip Counselling Psychology, CMSAC, MBACP
Certified Mediator · Systemic Coach

Are there thoughts and behaviours that might be holding you back from being in a better place? Life seems rather short to feel unhappy, unsure, or unfulfilled. Ideally, I can help you realise alternative ways to address the issues that might be standing in the way of your preferred outcome. I’m happy to listen.

Counselling is talking to a professional listening stranger. As a registered counsellor in private practice, I can help you think things through and explore ways to adapt thoughts and behaviour. I adhere to a strict code of ethical conduct, act in confidence, do not judge, and accept you for who you are.

Helping change, thinking through

Reflecting on life and realising your potential

Feeling content in life and at the same time accepting things where change is beyond our control, is a goal not always easy to achieve. Separation, conflict at work, as well as loss and grief are aspects which many may have experienced. Depressive episodes, eating disorders, anxiety or substance abuse are not uncommon, yet not often talked about. My aim is to show you the tools and techniques to help realise a more balanced life. Finding ways to deal with potentially untoward situations that many will encounter at some stage in life, is core of the work.

Managing change

Life throws many surprises at us, and while we cannot predict the outcome of an event we can take control of how we respond to certain situations. The sessions focus on accepting yourself and managing transitions in your life. As there is no single way forward, you will realise your freedom of choice when reacting to life events.

Coaching your career

Is it decision-making time and you are still torn: “Should I stay or should I go?” As an expat, could you and your family benefit from support on how to adapt to new cultures, settle in, and maximise on what your new host country uniquely has to offer? Systemic coaching will help inspire you to achieve more of your personal and professional goals. I can assist you in taking more control with proven tools and techniques to realise your goals.

Helping you to reframe, reimagine and realise

I am a qualified professional with a Master of Arts in Psychotherapy and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology. As a private practitioner, I work with individuals who would like to make impacting life changes. With a person-centred approach, I believe that everyone is the expert in their own life.

Location and fees

I provide face-to-face sessions in the privacy of a dedicated counselling space. My private practice is located in the centre of Ingelheim am Rhein in the Rhine-Main area of Germany. Most international health insurance policies cover the cost of qualified therapy irrespective of geographical location. I offer an initial conversation by phone free of charge or obligation lasting 20 minutes. Should you feel comfortable continuing, subsequent one-hour sessions are charged at 90 Euros. The fees for coaching in a professional context are set at 130 Euros for 60 minutes. The advantages of going private: no waiting list, guaranteed confidentiality, and free choice of modality and duration.

Background and professional accreditation

Used to moving house frequently, I have worked and lived in six countries in Asia and Europe. Hence, I am aware of the opportunities and challenges an internationally mobile life brings. With nine years spent in the Philippines and Singapore, I have developed an in-depth understanding of Eastern cultural traits. Of Anglo-German descent, I am bilingual in both English and German. Depending on your preference sessions can be held in either language face-to-face or remotely.

In line with global migration, I facilitate intercultural workshops in a university setting and provide counselling for students from overseas. Helping children, adolescents and young adults with learning difficulties, lower IQs and autism spectrum disorders is an ongoing part of my work. In addition, I am a network partner of XPotential training academy focussing on managing change and developing personal skills.

Aiding quality assurance, I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP 375121) and a clinical member and registered counsellor of the Singapore Association for Counselling (CMSAC C0761) and adhere to their code of ethics. In addition, I am a trained Certified Mediator as stipulated by the Federal Mediation Act (MediationsG) and hold a certificate in Systemic Coaching.
